Hey Family,
How have things been going with my family of well-sized humans. Sorry, I'm writing kind of early, we had kind of a crazy night last night. Around ten an elder in our zone called us and told us his companion couldn't breath and they had to go to the hospital, but in their area, especially at night, they have no rides so we had to get them an ambulence. Anyway, Elder Reeves was asleep and I went and woke him up and said we have to go, an elder is dying! Anyway, he didn't believe me. He thought I was just trying to get him to wake up so we could play monopolio (monopoly). But he got up and I called the AP we were going so we ran to the hospital but no ambulance so we got a hold of the Jordan Super Rescue Crew and they drove us over there. We got him and he turned out okay. He just had like a little cough. I was kind of embarrassed we used the rescue crew to save him haha. But hey, he did barf. Anyway, Elder Reeves and I will probably buy a cake for them. The Elders okay though. He went to Iloilo though for a check up so it's looking okay. We're tired though, went to bed around 1 in the morning, still woke up at 6:30 :/ hehe.
This past week was way busy for us though. On monday Elder Reeves wanted us to go visit a less active that lives really far away so he doesn't want to use proselyting time to go. So off we went. It was actually really fun, but we had to pay a lot. The other elders went with him. IT was just cool because it was a crazy dirt road and we road on a tricycle. It was like a jungle explorer ride at Disney land. I had so much fun I didn't even mind paying a whole dollar for it. Anyway, it was worth going over there. They live right next to the ocean and it was way beautiful. Afterwards we actually checked out some caves nearby so it was a fun p-day. Straight after we had to run over to an FHE with the Tabaque Family and they kept the committment to invite Noknok! We had a really good lesson about families and protecting them using cotton ear swabss, alchohol, and fire. and our investigator, who never wanted us to visit before, said he felt really good afterwards.
We're really excited about our work lately. We finally got Brother Nelson to come to Sunday School. Before he would only come to sacrament meeting and then go to work but we've been working with him to be able to keep the sabbath day holy. Hopefully this really shows his faith and he'll be ready for his baptism.
Also Joan and her kids came to church too. She's such a cool sister and really loves the church and knows its true. I'm really excited for her and so is the branch. They know how much she has sacrificed to be baptized and if she just continues, she and her daughters will. Actually it was kind of funny because on Sunday we had the primary program in our branch, even though there's only like 10 kids. We had a couple investigator kids go and the primary president just shanghai'ed them into the program. Ah boy... that was the funniest primary program I've ever seen. There was only like 1 girl who actually knew the songs and then there was some kids just like humming really loud, one was just reading all the words; I can't really describe what was happening, it was just really fun. Then one kid went up there to read his part and he just started crying and sat down. Then another kid had 2 older kids whispering in her ear what to say, they just said Jesus over and over again and the kid wouldn't say it. Pinoy kids are way cute.
Anyway, on Wednesday and Thursday we actually had to go to Iloilo for Leadership Training. On Thursday I gave my training on how to train haha. Anyway, I was way nervous before but when it started I just had a blast and I learned a ton. Actually as a demonstration I had Elder Hadry train me how to get buff. He did really well, he used scriptures about fruits and trained me how to get buff, in particular, my pectorials. He used examples and it was really well done. Anyway, I just used that to help people visualize the principles in the training model. Like when he had me practice I was suppose to do 5 push-ups but I only do 3. Anyway, then he evaluated me and just pumped me up. He told me don't feel discouraged but keep going and maybe in a couple days you'll do 10 and then a couple days you'll be able to do 20. Then he told me to think about all the pinoys who think I'm only 12 and get mad and know I need to work out to look older (he knew the desires of my heart, we should also know who we train) and then I tried again. I got started and he made the whole room chant my name. It was intense, but I did it, but as it happened I felt like I could do 30. Anyway, haha. I don't know if this could relate to any of you since you don't really have to train missionaries. But you can use it for anything, baking cakes, basket weaving, it's effective! (it's called the training model, like explain, demonstrate, practice, evaluate, repractice are the steps) I think though when we evaluate people we shouldn't like destroy their confidence or say, my grandma can do that many push-ups. But help them feel good and then pump them up to do more. Like if I walk out of a district meeting feeling no good about my practice I probably won't apply what I've learned, but if we get a good evaluation, get things to work on, make goals, then we'll actually become more effective, which is the point. But I hope the training will make a difference though because it has for me in how we'll teach zone meetings or how I could conduct exchanges. I love trainings because everyone pretty much receives revelation they need for themselves personally and just like lessons with investigators the holy ghost teaches each person what they need.
We had a really good lesson with this new family we're teaching, Ruby and Danilo. They are way cool. Danilo rides around on a motor all day selling fish from off his motor. They are a really nice family.
What else is cool? Oh, today I got some more pants made. I'm still trying to find a nativity too mom. Today we're going to buy some turtles to eat. There going to be alive but since they're lunch I don't think they count as a pet. Um, by the way dad my companion elder reeves is a zone leader too. Um, I'm kind of wondering if Rob is still alive or has fingers to type. :P He's probably busy huh? MAybe he has a woman. Rob if you don't write I can just start rumors about you via forwarded mail. muhahaha. I'm just of scared you all got a dog because dogs here really freak me out still. Elder Reeves is a clog dancer too. We made the mango syrup. OH snap, it was delicious. The problem was Elder Reeves accidentally bought corn starch instead of flour so the pancakes were way weird, but the syrup was so good we ate them anyway. We spent a lot of the week trying to find a house for the senior couple. Since there is no relators elder reeves just went to a richer neighborhood, knocked on the door, and said, 'hey, you're house is nice, you wouldn't happen to be moving out would you, cause we're looking for a house to rent.' hehe. It wasn't too effective but we found a couple more options for them by the end of the week.
I guess that's all. Keep up your handsomeness and whatnot.
I love you all,
Elder Burton
