Hey Everyone!

Don't worry I sent wrong pictures but I'm sending some now for you. That's exciting about Sam's mission call. I'm excited for him. And I have a question before I forget. What is BT? Because Grandma and Grandpa keep using it.

So this week has been pretty good, but a hard one for us. We've been working hard to get more progressing investigators. Right now in this area we are tracting a lot. We always have to be looking for new investigators and find like 15 new investigators every week. It's kind of intense. I don't know how good I am at tracting but we do it all the time. Elder Jenkins was telling me yesterday I'm pretty awkward when I tract. It's probably because I make some stupid jokes so they think I'm a normal person, but at the same time we testify and they let us in their house. I seriously don't think what I do is that awkward though because I think about some of the things Filipinos do and they don't believe it's too awkward. Like when I walk down the street and hear 15 times a day, wow, that guys nose is really big. Like I don't hear that in Colorado, but here it's an okay thing to say. If you have a big nose, of course it's something everybody needs to tell you. But anyway, I actually kind of like tracting, even though I'm not that good and I just say whatever pops into my mind, it's fun to meet new people and talk to them about the gospel. Even when I don't know everything about them you just have to say whatever is being put into your mouth and hopefully it's the part of the gospel this person needs, because everybody needs it in their lives, and hopeful we'll be lead to those who are elect!

We've had a pretty good week anyways. I have a kind of funny story, but kind of sad at the same time. So we were going to this one house to follow up on we had taught at before. It was this one person I think we had told you about that we had taught before and she wasn't expecting anything different from us, but I think she was blown by our message, or surprised or something. But anyway, so we went to her house because we thought she had a lot of potential, but this was like our 5th time going trying to follow up on her. So we went and finally after "Tag Balay!"ing (what you yell to get people to come out of their house) for like a couple minutes, her son walked out, who is like 8 years old or something. He told us straight off that his mom had gone to the hospital. We were wondering what happened and asked and he didn't tell us anything. But then we tried to make an appointment he could tell her when we could come back and visit with them. Elder Jenkins then asked if he could go inside and ask the mom when we could come back. So the kid stood there for a second, shrugged his shoulders, and went inside and asked his mom, who was sitting inside hiding from us. Yeah, she doesn't want us to come back. :( But it was kind of funny but sad because they are just teaching their kids to lie, and, she chose not to accept our message. But she knows and has a Book of Mormon so hopefully one day she'll read and gain that desire to listen to us again. We'll follow up on her in a couple of weeks maybe.

This week we also taught this one Young Man around 16 years old named Josiah. He is from Guam and is here for school. Elder Jenkins had taught him about a month ago but we haven't been able to catch him before this week. So we went to his house and I started wanting to talk to him in Ilonggo, but it turns out he only speaks English! It was so weird! So we ended up sharing with him about reading in the scriptures and a little about the Plan of Salvation and he was way interested, he really wanted to read and learn about the Plan of Salvation. He was a really cool kid and really nice. He's really rich though, especially for here, but he just got back from Guam and after the lesson gave us like KitKat bars and Sour Punch Straws. It was delicious. The feelings, inside of my mouth at that time, were beyond description. Just kidding, but I did enjoy it. haha. Anyway, we taught Josiah again, he's interesting. He does graffiti. And he always tells us he's busy but he always just goes to this place called SM City every day. It's this giant mall they only have here in Iloilo on the other side of the city. It's hard to catch him though, mostly because he's 16, he has a ton of money, and he has no parental guidance really. But, hopefully, we can get him excited about this gospel.

At Church on Sunday was really good. We had this one family the Constantino family finally come to church. When I first met them, Elder Jenkins and Elder Ahquin (who I replaced) had been teaching her a long time, she had come a couple times with them. But this was the first time she came when I was here. They are a poor family and she always says she has to feed her pigs on Sundays, or they are busy in other ways. But they finally came to church. When I first met Sallie, I thought she was just golden, she already is a master on the gospel, she always reads, she has a strong strong desire to be baptized, we just need her to come to church, and she has, and hopefully will continue. Right now one of her pigs is pregnant but they still found time to come to church and I'm happy. She told us she figured out a schedule so she could feed her pigs and still come to church, so I'm really excited for her. Hopefully we can get her and her whole family to church and baptized this next month. Her husband, Nelson, is the one who made the new years resolution to stop smoking and drinking. :D

So it was fun on Sunday. During sacrament meeting, the other Elders had 5 of their investigators confirmed, so that was really cool to see. Then we had some speakers. Bonbon spoke. He is a really cool kid around 15 years old and he's worked with us before. I like him, he's really hilarious. He spoke on sacrifice and at the end he put down his talk, and bore his testimony. He said some good things then said, "kag kabalo ko nga... ugh.. nalipat ko!" or like "I know that.. oh! I forgot!" And everyone started laughing and he put one of his hands in a fist and hit himself in the forehead. then he said "in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen." And hurried and sat down. I really like Bonbon though, he's hilarious. Then we had Dave speak too. He's really good. He's been a member about 6 months and really wants to go on a mission. He's the one who works with us the most. Then the concluding speakers was a missionary who just got home from his mission last Thursday. So it was a really good meeting. Sallie liked the return missionaries talk. So it wasn't a bad sacrament meeting.

Anyway, I want you all to know, that even though sometimes it's hard. I'm loving this work. And thanks for all your help and support and especially prayers for our investigators and members.

Love,
Elder Burton
